VAIGA Agri Hack 2023

VAIGA (Value Addition for Income Generation in Agriculture), a major event organized by the Department of Agriculture Development and Farmers’ Welfare has become an icon for agriculture value addition and processing.

VAIGA Agri Hack 23 is Kerala’s largest agricultural hackathon conducted by the Department of Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare, Government of Kerala as a part of the VAIGA Agricultural Fest, participating college students, startups, individuals, farmers, innovationists, and public. Main aim of VAIGA Agri Hack 23 is to seek effective solutions for the major challenges faced in agriculture sector and agricultural governance. Major challenges faced by the Kerala agricultural sector are identified and presented as problem statements. Higher education students, startups and public including professional and farmers are given the opportunity to choose among these problem statements and work on their effective solutions.

The 36-hours long hackathon consisting of both Software and Hardware editions. The participants include three categories viz., (a) College students (b) Start-ups (c) General public including farmers and professionals. A panel of mentors shall provide the teams with expert opinions, mentoring and guidance.

Participating teams have to register online through Agri Hack portal before 12th February 2023. They have to submit a brief description of their proposed solution along with a power point presentation before 12 pm on 12th February 2023. Among the submitted solutions, the jury board will evaluate and shortlist the ones that are up to the par considering the factors including practicality, transparency, and cost- effectiveness of the solutions.

Total 30 teams will be shortlisted for the Grand Finale, which is to be held at College of Agriculture, Vellayani at Thiruvananthapuram from 25th to 27th February 2023. Competing teams should develop their proposed solution into practicality and present the same in the Grand Finale. From this, top performing teams from each category are selected to the final round namely Power Judgment. Final winners of VAIGA Agri Hack 23 will be selected based on their performance in the Power Judgment and will be awarded cash prize, medals and certificates.
